The Mario Opera: Act One

Jonathan Mann's Mario Opera Now available on iTunes

GameJew AKA Jonathan Mann, wants to uncover the stories you don't hear about in the world of video games. Games used for education, games in Africa, games made for a common good, games meant to push the boundaries, these are the stories that GameJew looks at. Game developers, game publishers, game theorists, game luddites, these are the people that GameJew is talking to.

Mushroom Singdom Episode 27 for March 5th

Super Turrican! A lot of people really love this game. I found it kind of mediocre. I had a really hard time coming up with something to say about it...it's pretty straight forward. It has some cool weapons and a lot of great level design. Yay!

GameJew Live! For March 5th!

(Screen Test for) The Search For T'Ulosba

And now for something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. As many of you know, I'm a huge Star Trek nerd and I've always wanted to do some kind of sci-fi homage type thing. I know there's a lot of people doing this, and doing it a lot better than I'll be able to . But hopefully I can put my own little spin on it. This is just a test video that I made in a few hours to see what it would look like. I shot it at my girlfriend's house, where I had a severe lack of tools (lights, green screen), so that's why some of the green screening came out so raw. Yeah. Anyway. Let me know what you think.

Mushroom Singdom # 26

2 mediocre games! You got "Kirby 64" which is in every way inferior to it's predecessors. Not that it's not fun...it is. It just had a lot to live up to. Yeah.
Next we have "Psychosis" on the Turbo-Graphix. A very, very, very typical shooter. You know the kind. Typical in every way. Nothing original. Bleh.

Mushroom Singdom Episode 25 (?)

Singing virtual console reviews return (finally!) with Ninja Gaiden 3: The Ancient Ship of Doom and Phantasy Star 2. The Ninja Gadien song came out pretty well, but I'm not crazy about the Phantasy Star one. It was pretty late when I wrote these, I guess maybe I phoned the second one in. Let me know what you think!

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us
So I got a lot of really good suggestions for a new website name. David Harris suggested mannmade.com, which I really liked, but it was taken.

So I'm going with mannmade.tv
Work on the site should begin within the next few days. I don't know how long it will take, but I'll keep you all posted!

This is what I was thinking for the logo. What does everyone think?

GameJew on Facebook

So, thankfully my computer is finally fixed. I'm not sure when or where I'm going to start doing GameJew live again. I WOULD say that I'd be able to start it this week, but I'm flying back into Berkeley this Wed., and I can't guarantee that I'll be able to do it.

So, two things. First, thanks for all your suggestions! A lot of good ones. I'm going to see what is still available and hopefully over the next few months we'll have a new website on our hands.

Second, I've set up a GameJew fan page on Facebook!
